Tiong Bahru Roasted Duck Specialist is located at Golden Mile Food Centre. We were in the area and decided to order a few dishes to have as sides together with the famed claypot rice.

The duo were hard at work, busy slicing up the various meat they have and prepping them for orders. There was a queue for the stall and people were ordering different dishes ranging from their drunken duck, herbal fried chicken and their char siew roast meat sets.

Drunken Duck – Half ($17)
We ordered half a drunken duck to go with the other dishes we ordered. The half duck came in a large plate accompanied by cucumbers and a large serving of duck sauce in a separate bowl. The duck came a little warm as with most hawker places, it should have probably been pre-roasted and served.

Drunken Duck – Half Closeup
The duck was surprisingly soft and tender and the meat could be bitten off easily. The skin was not as crispy as we would have preferred and lacked the crisp of a perfectly roasted duck though the colours made it look really crisp.

The taste of the duck dipped in the sauce was actually really flavourful, with a deep intensity that matched the tenderness of the duck to give it a wholesome mouthfeel. The drunken duck flavour was a tad different from normal duck and had a distinct taste to it. The chilli wasn’t very strong and isn’t really needed with the amount of flavour the sauce and duck combination gave.

While the drunken duck tasted quite different and had an intense flavour, it would have been a better experience if the skin was more crisp and the duck freshly roasted.
