7 Things to do on Lazarus Island, Singapore [2025]

If you consider yourself a beach bum, but you are avoiding visiting Sentosa or East Coast Park because you probably will drown in the sea of people more than in the actual sea. It’s time for you to make a trip down to Lazarus Island.

Lazarus Island, also known as Pulau Sekijang Pelepah, is one of Singapore’s secret gems that is a 10 min walk from St. John’s Island. The island has been growing in popularity, especially with amazing images of the pristine cove going viral on social media. If you are someone who needs a push to start exploring new places, we have compiled a list of things to do in Lazarus Island. Here is a list of 7 things you can do on this island.

What to do on Lazarus Island?

1. Take a stroll by the beach

Every time we were so excited about our day trip to East Coast Park or Sentosa, we usually ended up getting disappointed with the polluted beaches. Taking off your shoes and letting the waves crash on your bare feet whilst enjoying the sea breeze is no longer a dream on Lazarus Island. Listen to the sound of waves as you feel the sun rays on your face and let the waves wash away all your worries.

2. Have a picnic

No beach outing is considered complete without an amazing picnic. Lazarus Island is an amazing location for picnics. With plenty of coconut trees lining up along the beach, it provides natural shade for you to enjoy your hearty picnic. Enjoy your favourite sandwiches and spend quality time with your loved ones. In case of bad weather, there are shelters nearby, so you don’t have to worry about cutting your picnic short!

Note: Make sure you pack enough water and food as there aren’t any shops selling food or drinks on the island!

3. Take a dip in the sea

Don’t forget to bring your swimming and snorkeling gears. It is a perfect location for a swim. Lazarus Island is usually not crowded with people, where you do not have to worry about someone getting in your relaxing swim. But do take note that there are no lifeguards on duty.

4. Unleash your inner cat person

If you get excited at the sight of cats, you will love your experience on the way to Lazarus Island. Situated right before crossing the bridge from St. John’s Island to Lazarus Island, it is impossible for you to miss any of these adorable felines. A bunch of local cat residents will swamp towards you the minute you cross the jetty.

5. Experience kite-flying adventure

Marina Barrage has always been the go-to place for kite flying, but we all have experience running into people or getting our kites tangled with others. Or worse still, getting photobombed by some kids running around. This island is so quiet and you will have plenty of space to run around and fly your kite without any disturbance.

6. Sun tanning on your “private” beach

If you are the type of self-conscious person who hates the idea of suntanning in the open under the public prying eyes, this will be the perfect location just for you. The sun, the clean beaches and the sound of crashing waves are prepared for you. No more annoying crowd and you will have the entire beach for yourself. Don’t get too comfortable and forget the time. You might wake up looking like a lobster.

7. Throw a yacht party at Lazarus Island

Are you still planning to host your 21st birthday party at a luxurious hotel? You can try throwing a yacht party out at sea. Anchor your yacht and jump into the sea, or enjoy the BBQ and Karaoke System onboard. Right smack in the middle of the ocean, you can party all night without being mindful of the noise. Lazarus Island is a place you want to keep in mind.

Have you been to Lazarus Island? Here are some simple things to take not when you are visiting there. We went there at 10am and catch the 4pm boat to come back. $10/person for the 2 ways trip (30min ride) To be honest nothing much there but the beautiful sand on the beach and the scenery, no places for food and drinks. And the boat ride is quite long. You’ll spend like 2 hrs on the ride and waiting time. I thinks it’s good to experience once, coz I prefer convenience. I’ll just go in Sentosa or East Coast park for the beach next time.
