St. John’s Island – Fishing, trekking & Picnics
Upon arriving at St. John Island, you will notice how clear the water is. You will see schools of fishes, from Archer fishes to bait fishes. It’s a home to a rich diversity of flora and fauna, a perfect place for nature lovers seeking a little adventure. You can also plan to have your day outdoors as there are picnic tables and paved walking trails for you to explore and picnic. Avid fishermen can also bring your fishing gear as St. Island is a famed spot for shore fishing.
St. John Island is also known as Singapore’s cat island, we learnt that there were at least 100 cats residing on this island. For cat whisperers, you’ll be pleased to be greeted by the stunning feline residents who’ll hold you hostage at the island. However, withstand the urge to feed them as there are unique volunteers feeding them daily.

Head over to this clear water lagoon at Lazarus Island to enjoy the clean, white and sandy C-shaped lagoon, which is just 15 minute walk away from St. John Island. You may also rent a bike or scooter, a fun new way to explore both St. John Island and Lazarus Island on its well-paved paths.
Please remember to pack your own meals and bring lots of drinking water as there aren’t any food & beverage options available on this island. Keep the island free of trash, by bringing extra trash bags for your garbage.

Kusu Island – Shrines & Temples
Head down to Kusu Island for a change of scenery to visit its shrines and temples such as the Dabogong temple. At Kusu Island, also known as “Tortoise Island”, you’ll come across a tortoise sanctuary with plenty of tortoises roaming around! The water is pretty calm and is suitable for snorkeling. If you wish to cool off on a sunny day, you may bring your own snorkeling gear. This is also the only place where you can buy drinks!

Get affordable island hopping ferry rides
Take this opportunity to take a breather and get close to nature. You do not need to spend a bomb to go island hopping, a $15 ferry ticket is all it takes! To purchase your ferry tickets, visit Marina South Pier Ferry Terminal, you will see a bright orange booth right outside Marina South Pier MRT Exit A. Please take note that there are limited parking lots at the terminal, do consider heading there via public transport.
By bus: board 402 and alight at Marina South Pier Stop.
By MRT: board the North South Line train to Marina South Pier MRT and head out via Exit A
