You Fu Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle is located on level 2 of Golden Mile Food Centre and is helmed by a young chap. Although he’s in his early twenties, don’t underestimate the young hawker as he’s been schooled in the skills of frying Hokkien prawn noodles from a young tender age.

Dedicated to their craft, the whole dish was made by them, from coming up with their own chilli to ensuring the crispness of the pork lard bits. You’d see him frying up the different orders with the fragrance of the fried Hokkien prawn noodles just filling the air.

Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle Large ($9)
We ordered a large plate of the prawn noodles to share, with additional stir fried egg on the side. The aroma of the dish was thick and smelled really fragrant. With a mix of yellow noodles and thin bee hoon, the noodles held the sauce well, you could order the thick bee hoon if you prefer a more filling bite.

Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle Ingredients
The ingredients were plentiful, with many prawns, pork belly and squid (sotong) strewn throughout the dish. Not forgetting the sinful yet crispy pork lard, the dish was really generously filled with ingredients. The prawns were juicy and sweet, the sotong slightly chewy and the pork belly tender, giving you different surprising textures as you go through the dish.

Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle Closeup
The prawn noodles had a nice char wok hey taste which we greatly appreciated. The noodles were coated in a prawn broth that was really savoury and rich tasting, giving flavour to the dish.

With the usual prawn noodles, usually a load of chilli would have been added to enhance the dish as Singaporeans love spice and stronger tasting dishes. However, this dish had such depth of flavour that you’d only need to add some chilli for the spiciness as the prawn noodles was more than flavourful enough.
