Located in the heart of Somerset, is OverScoop at Orchard Central level 2. Being a nice and cozy environment, there were a lot of people having the waffles and ice cream whilst we were there. OverScoop got its name from providing a mini scoop on top of whatever you’ve ordered so you’ve got a scoop more than you asked for! As a dessert cafe opened during covid, this concept came about to allow people to try a different flavour since food sampling wasn’t allowed.
With a large selection of ice cream available, we were spoilt for choice when we wanted to take a pick of the ice cream flavours to go along with our order.
If you’re lactose intolerant or just not a fan of ice cream in general, you may give their brownie or cookie a shot whilst your friends have a go at the ice cream.
We ordered the set which landed us a croffle or waffle, two scoops of ice cream and a drink! We ended up ordering croffles with roasted pistachio and earl grey and topping it off was an overscoop of acai flavour and some mini marshmallows. The croffle had a crisp outer layer but the inner portion was filled with dough that wasn’t cooked til crispy which dampened our impression of the croffle.
The pistachio flavour was creamy and went well together with the standard earl grey flavour. We would have preferred for the pistachio taste to have been more concentrated. As for the drinks, we decided on a fruity tea pot which was a great choice. It helped cleanse our taste buds and allowed us to enjoy the full flavours of the ice cream every time. The tea was light and clear, giving off a lightly aromatic fruity fragrance.

Overall, the dessert cafe is a nice place to chill with friends, with the ice cream going well with the tea as they balance each other out. We would recommend the waffle as it looks more basic and is less likely to disappoint. If the croffle was fully crispy in every layer like a croissant, the dish might have a more lasting impression on us.
