Mongkok Dim Sum – 24 Hours Dim Sum Restaurant to Satisfy Your Supper Cravings

Situated along Geylang Road and occupying a corner shophouse, Mongkok Dim Sum is a dim sum restaurant selling a wide variety of food including zhi char dishes. Being 24 hours, it allows you to have your dim sum fix in the late recesses of the night or the wee hours of the morning. 

There is a wide range of dim sum available at Mongkok Dim Sum and you’ll be able to order your favourites here. Whilst it doesn’t specialise in any specific dim sum or dishes, you’ll be surprised to find that the quality here is decent, with most of them being able to hit the mark of what you would expect of the dishes.

We didn’t just get the steamed dim sum but also got the fried dim sum to try. The different types of beancurd rolls were really crispy with the fillings helping to balance out the oiliness of the dishes. The dumpling on the other hand was a little on the hard side and did not suit us. If it was using a thinner wonton skin and is nicely fried, it might have had a crispier texture. 

Not expecting this, we found out that Mongkok Dim Sum also serves zhi char dishes and hence we ordered beef hor fun and yang zhou fried rice. We were especially surprised by the beef hor fun as whilst the size wasn’t large, the amount of beef given was generous, to the point where we suspected there were more beef slices than noodles within. The yang zhou fried rice on the other hand was lightly fried and had a nice mouthfeel without being overly salty. The fried rice gets its taste more from the ingredients being fried together rather than having seasoning or soy sauce.

Mongkok Dim Sum

Overall, Mongkok Dim Sum is a good place to grab a meal, be it for lunch, dinner or supper. Whilst it’s not a place specialising in any specific dish, you’ll be happy to know that you’ll be more than satisfied having your cravings fulfilled here. The food standard here is good for the price paid and they aren’t stingy with their ingredients either.
