Fu Hai Curry Chicken Noodles – Mouthwatering and Affordable Curry Chicken Noodles at Tanjong Pagar

This curry chicken noodle stall looked normal and unassuming with a young hawker at its helm. We discovered that this Fu Hai Curry Chicken Noodles used to be the Hock Hai Curry Chicken Bee Hoon Noodle from Albert Food Centre along Queen Street. Hock Hai Curry Chicken Bee Hoon Noodle was a Michelin Bib Gourmand awardee and even had a clear sign that stated ‘this is the only one; there are no other branches’ (只此一家,别无分号).

Located inside Tanjong Pagar Food Centre at level 2, the food centre will be packed on weekdays and would have a long line of people queuing for curry noodles. If you think you can head there after lunch to avoid the lunch crowd, think again as they tend to be sold out before 1 pm.

The curry gravy was incredibly flavourful and fragrant, with the soup being thick but lighter in taste as compared to the normal curry chicken noodles variants. The soup is also not too spicy so people who can’t take spice might be able to give it a try. The chilli was added separately and you can choose the amount of chilli you want yourself.

The bowl was filled with ingredients, ranging from fishcakes, to potatoes, tofu puffs (tau pok) and chicken. The fishcakes were standard, whilst the potatoes were boiled soft and the tau pok just absorbed so much of the soup that you’d get a flavour burst when you eat them. For the chicken we got the chicken thigh portion and the meat was tender and soft but could have been more seasoned as the curry soup overpowers the taste of the chicken.

Overall, the main highlight here would have been the curry soup which was delectable, being able to maintain the delicate balance between spices and creaminess. For a meal at a hawker with hawker prices, it is an extremely value for money option. If you’re a fan of curry chicken noodles, do give this stall a try and I’m sure you’d be wanting to come back for seconds!
