Dessert Bowl, otherwise known as 一碗甜品, is an unassuming store tucked away at a corner of Serangoon Gardens. Whilst Serangoon Gardens is known for Chomp Chomp and RK Eating House, it also holds a dessert shop specialising in durian. Located on level two of a shophouse, you might not even spot it if you don’t know what you’re looking out for.
As you wait in line to get a seat, you’ll be looking at these miniature shophouses lining the entrance. They serve as a throwback to how shophouses were back in the days with different depictions of all kinds of shops.
We came here on a weekend at 2pm exactly, where they just opened and it’s already been filled quickly. Durian desserts accommodates all kinds of groups, from groups of friends to a family outing or even a couple of old folks just wanting to enjoy a good bowl of dessert.
Durian Mousse ($5.90)
We all decided to order Durian Mousse ($5.90) as it was the store’s specialty and it was also a treat to be having a cold dessert on such a hot day. It was incredible to see the smooth blend of the mousse leaving it light and creamy. The paste was not too sweet nor was it too sticky and was just the right texture to enjoy a cool dessert without feeling jelat.
Durian Mousse Double Shot ($6.50)
There is also a double shot variation ($6.50) of the durian mousse which has an additional portion of the durian flesh added to the durian mousse. The durian was fantastic especially when paired together with the paste. The mousse comes together with the durian flesh to provide a strong tasting mouthfeel that exudes the intense taste of the durian and the creaminess of the paste.
Durian Crepe ($6.80)
We also gave their durian crepe a try, with an outer layer of crepe wrapped around a generous portion of durian flesh. The crepe added a light and doughy texture to the durian but could have been crispier.

Amongst the many choices of desserts around Serangoon Gardens, Dessert Bowl (一碗甜品) specialises in Durian and serves other traditional chinese desserts. If you’re a durian lover, Dessert Bowl is a place you absolutely have to try at least once. Whilst the crepe was nice, it was still overshadowed by the durian mousse. If it’s your first visit here, we’d recommend you to order the normal durian mousse. However if you’re a true durian lover, durian is never enough and a durian mousse double shot would be just the right amount to leave you satisfied.
