A result of a collaboration between Smokehouse BBQ in Bali and Club Street Social in Singapore, Decker Barbecue is a Texas-style barbecue joint. It is located along Robertson Quay, near Studio M and M Social Singapore. Priding themselves as an authentic American barbecue in Singapore, they feature a custom-built smoker from Texas to smoke the meat using only wood.
With a great selection of high quality meat, they use low and slow smoking to make your meat cuts tender and soft. Using their secret rub containing salt and pepper, the meat is smoked for up to 16 hours using only wood. They aim to provide quality meat to people at affordable prices with their casual restaurant.
We came to Decker Barbecue with a big group so we decided on getting 2 sharing platters to share around. The platters were large in size, as expected of a diner priding themselves to provide American cuisine, the portion was also American sized.
With the Decker Feast for Two, we got Turkey, Pork Spare Ribs, Burnt Wagyu Ends, Brisket Dirty Rice, Mac & Cheese and Fries. The turkey was a little already on the dry side, not something that fits the Singaporean palate.
The pork ribs and the wagyu brisket on the other hand were really good. The pork ribs were tender and soft, coming off the bones easily. With a light and tangy marinade as well, the taste of the spare ribs was accented, unlike the standard BBQ sauce used in most places.
The burnt wagyu ends tasted really good, with the fattiness of the wagyu within combined with the charred outer layers to let it have a crispy yet tender mouthfeel. The burnt wagyu ends do get sold out sometimes, so do order these if you have the opportunity to try them.
With the Family Feast for Four, we opted for Pulled Pork, Smoked Chicken, Pork Spare Ribs and Wagyu Brisket. The smoked chicken was a little on the tougher side and was harder to finish.
The pulled pork was somehow tender and moist, different from the usually dry version in other places. However, the portion of the pulled pork was a lot and we took awhile to finish it. The wagyu brisket was really soft, with a light melt in your mouth texture.
However, we came to realise that the meats were all marinated using the same mix. After having too much of the meat, they started tasting too similar with only the texture and meat type to differentiate them apart.
For the sides to go with the Family Feast for Four, we ordered Mac & Cheese, Coleslaw, Potato Salad & Guacamole. Surprisingly, guacamole became our favourite side, with it mixing really well with the different meat cuts chosen in the set. It helped to put a balance between the tangy, slightly sour taste of the marinade and the clean and green taste of the guacamole.

Overall, the meat was really well smoked, with our favourites being the burnt wagyu ends, wagyu brisket, pork spare ribs and the pulled pork. The turkey and the smoked chicken aren’t the most favourable cuts of meat but you may give them a go if you would like.
We’d advise you to get more people to share the platters with as the platters were really huge and sizable. Do be careful not to over order on the meats as they seem to be marinated with the same spice mix and thus would get jelak (sick of eating) after consuming a certain amount of them.
