Hawker food is never complete without getting some sharing dishes for the table and satay is obviously one of the top choices. We chanced upon Bedok 511 BBQ Chicken Wing and Bedok 511 BBQ Chicken Wing at Golden Mile Food Centre. It looked like a combination of two shops and apparently they are hawker stores serving factory made wings and satays by just heating them up.
The chicken and satay were all prepared beforehand and just heated as people ordered it. Looking further into it, we realised there were many outlets of Bedok 511 BBQ Chicken Wing and Bedok 511 BBQ Chicken Wing in various food centres around Singapore. Being factory made, you’d be sure that the quality of satay and chicken would remain consistent throughout and the only difference is the cooking at each outlet.
Featuring two different store brands, the uncle was quick at work, churning out loads of chicken wings and satays constantly. Our satay was cooked quite fast and it was cooked behind in another grill separate from the chicken wings.
Assorted Satay ($0.80/stick)
The satay was served with a healthy serving of cucumber, onions and the satay sauce was also provided in a separate bowl. We ordered an assorted number of chicken, pork and mutton satays. The satay sauce was thick and had a strong peanut base to it that went well with the satay though you can opt to have it without sauce as well.

The satay was slightly charred but still soft and tender inside, and the mutton taste wasn’t very gamey. The taste was decent, with a quality that satisfied us but wouldn’t be described as the best.
The only drawback of the satay was that some of the sticks had meat that was a little on the lesser side, as could be seen since the meat was actually quite short. We thought that since it’s factory made, the meat would have generally the same size for every stick.

The satays ordered here were passable, with quality that should be expected for Singapore satay. The satays here were great as sharing sides to go with the delicious mains available like Yew Chuan Claypot Rice and You Fu Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle.
If you’re interested and love their satay, you’d be thrilled to know that you can actually purchase the uncooked satay from Soon Lee Heng directly in Woodlands. They do sell uncooked satays in packs of 30 sticks, so either give them a call beforehand or just walk in and place an order.
