Honeydew Sago – $4 (Add ice cream for $1.40/scoop)
With the honeydew sago, honeydew and sago were placed in a milky dessert bowl that was sweet and refreshing. The honeydew kept the dessert sweet while the sago added a chewy texture to the dish.

Mango Sago Pomelo – $5.20 (Add ice cream for $1.40/scoop)
A popular choice amongst Chinese desserts, their mango sago pomelo was sweet and refreshing. With the sweet mango permeating the dessert whilst the sago added a texture of chewiness and the pomelo added a light and refreshing burst of sweet and tangy flavour.

Ah Chew Desserts Grass Jelly with Mango

Grass Jelly with Mango – $4.80 (Add ice cream for $1.40/scoop)
The grass jelly with mango was interesting but not particularly appealing. The grass jelly was smooth but did not contain the unique grass jelly taste and was a little on the bland side. The mango cubes were sweet, but did not mix well with the grass jelly.

Ah Chew Desserts Watermelon Honeydew Sago

Watermelon Honeydew Sago – $4 (Add ice cream for $1.40/scoop)
The watermelon honeydew sago was similar to the honeydew sago with watermelon added in. The milkiness of the dessert served to mix well with the sweet honeydew flavour but the watermelon did not help to enhance much of the taste of the dessert. Whilst the watermelon was sweet, it seemed to be overshadowed by the sweetness of the honeydew and the milkiness of the dessert soup.

Being in an easily accessible location near Bugis, you’ll expect to find a crowd here and have to queue for a seat most of the time. Overall, the series of sago desserts were great, being sweet yet having a nice texture and feel to it. The grass jelly dessert was slightly lacking and could have been better. Whilst we did not try the steamed egg and the sesame/almond paste desserts, it’s worth noting that those are popular picks as well and would be worth a try if you’re looking for warm desserts.
