Sanook Kitchen serves the popular dishes of Thai food that have been known to represent Thai cuisine.

Deep-fried Tofu with Thai Chilli Sauce
The deep fried tofu was crisp on the outside but was a little dry on the inside. When mixed together with the Thai chilli sauce, it gave it a lightly sweet and spicy taste which fits well with the plain tasting tofu.

Prawn Omelette
The prawn omelette had a really nice char layer, with the outer corners having the nicely deep fried egg bits. It went well along with the light sour chilli sauce and had a light prawn taste to it. There was a decent amount of small prawns in the egg mix and the onions helped to give a contrast to the taste of it.

Stir Fried Beef with Kai Lan
The stir fried beef and kai lan wasn’t the best, with the beef being a little overcooked and hence was a little hard. The kai lan was fresh and tasted great, adding much needed vitamins to our meal. However the dish as a whole was really oily and felt a little oily for a vegetable dish.

Clear Tom Yum Seafood Soup
We had the clear tom yum soup and it was great! Filled with lots of seafood, the soup was spicy and sour. For people who are fans of tom yum, it might be better if it was a tad more sour. The sourness of the soup was just right for families as kids would also be able to enjoy the soup.

Stir Fried Minced Chicken with Thai Basil
The stir fried basil chicken was reminiscent of the signature Thai dish basil pork. Using chicken as a substitute worked out totally fine and blended well with the basil and chilli taste together. With the caramelised onions and the long beans, the dish blends together to have a blend of taste enabled by the basil, caramelised onions, chillis and the sauce of the dish itself.

The different dishes went really well together with rice and were great to have for a family dinner or a catchup with friends. The different dishes mixed together well, though the stir fried beef left much to be desired. The notable dishes here were the stir fried basil chicken as well as the clear tom yum soup.

Sanook Kitchen

Overall, if you’re looking for Thai food, the dishes here are decent but not all dishes are good. Do give it a try if you’re looking for the basic Thai dishes. The portions were decently sized so 2-3 dishes should be enough to fill a family of 4. The omelette, tom yum soup and basil chicken were great and will be able to satisfy your Thai cravings! As this is a halal Thai restaurant, you’re safe to bring your muslim friends along to dine here.
