Hidden in the old building of City Plaza lies the first and main outlet of Arnold’s Chicken. We’ve been to several of the other outlets and the best is still from the main outlet. Having been a small fried chicken eatery tucked away on the 2nd floor, they have been here since 1984.

As a halal-certified eatery, it attracts both Muslim patrons and a healthy number of their non-muslim regulars. Despite being hidden in the corner of an old mall, the restaurant remains quite packed, even on weekday evenings.

The menu centers around chicken dishes, complemented by sides like coleslaw and fried buns. For newcomers, the Whole Spring Chicken is a must-try. Fried to a deep golden brown, it’s served piping hot, with the crispy skin sealing in the heat and juices. They do offer boneless chicken pieces, fish and chips as well as a large amount of sides.

10 Pieces Chicken
As we had a big group of people including some light eaters, we got a 10 piece chicken set to share as it was easier to split amongst a larger group of people. The chicken pieces aren’t bad, so you can order this if you’re worried about the spring chicken being too big.
The 10-Piece Chicken set is suitable for sharing, though be aware of potential differences in tenderness. We also noticed that these pieces were less tender compared to the spring chicken.

Crispy Treat
The Crispy Treat platter, featuring onion rings, curly fries, chicken tenders, and popcorn chicken with tartar sauce, provides variety but may be considered pricey for the portion size.

Fish and Chips
The Fish and Chips, comprising two fried fish fillets, are milder in flavor and might not stand out as much as the chicken offerings. We’d recommend you to get fried chicken since you’ve already travelled all the way.

Whole Spring Chicken
As the main highlight of the place, Arnold’s Chicken of course specialises in fried chicken. Being the mainstay product, the whole spring chicken is fried till a deep golden brown and is piping hot when served to you. The outer skin works as a layer to help preserve the heat within the chicken and keep the chicken nice and hot.

When you first split the chicken in half and start tearing into it, you’ll realise that fresh chicken juices would flow out of the chicken and drip onto your plate. The chicken inside can be seen to be soft and juicy, even for the breast parts which are usually expected to be tough. Pairing the chicken with their chilli sauce just makes for a satisfying meal altogether.
Arnold’s Chicken
Overall, Arnold’s Chicken always overdelivers with really soft and tender chicken. Glistening with chicken juices, whilst maintaining a soft and tender interior, the spring chicken remains to be the main highlight of Arnold’s Chicken and is a recommended dish regardless. Also remember to grab some of their famous buns and coleslaw as they are exceptional sides that goes really well with the fried chicken.
