As we eagerly anticipate the Chingay Parade 2024, a vibrant theme takes center stage – “Blossom.” This captivating theme symbolizes the growth, transformation, and flourishing of both individuals and communities. Chingay aspires to unite like-minded people and partners, encouraging them to come together and blossom as one community.
The Essence of “Blossom”
The enchanting blooming flowers scattered throughout the parade not only reflect the spirit of unity among our people but also serve as a showcase of diverse talents. Brace yourself for a spectacle of colorful and vibrant costumes, special effects, and, most notably, flowers taking center stage as an exquisite motif throughout the six mesmerizing acts.

Highlights:
1. Interactive Floor Projection:
Singapore’s longest floor projection for a street parade, spanning 230 meters. Immerse yourself in creative graphics and special visuals illuminating the Chingay Garden as performers parade down the street in this enchanting garden.
2. PAssionArts Street:
Explore art installations and make them your Instagram-worthy spots. Engage in various art activities at the PAssionArts Street, a collaboration with over 10 Community Arts & Culture Clubs, presenting art installations co-created by residents and community artists.
3. Chingay National Education (NE) – Blossoming Art Installation:
Near the F1 Pit Building, experience blossom-themed art installations made from recycled materials by creative students from seven primary and secondary schools. Embark on an enchanting journey narrated by the Gardener and the Flower Fairy, where every petal tells a story, and every act is a step towards a blossoming future.

The Chingay Story
The term “Chingay” originates from the Mandarin word 妆艺 (zhuangyi), meaning the art of costume and masquerade in the Hokkien dialect. Starting in 1973 as a Chinese New Year street parade, Chingay has evolved into an annual iconic event, showcasing Singapore’s rich and unique multi-ethnic and cosmopolitan cultures.
Chingay is a uniquely Singaporean tradition, celebrated during the second weekend of Chinese New Year, offering a treasured glimpse into the dynamism of Singapore’s vibrant multi-culturalism and exciting global cultures.

Pre-Requisites for Volunteer Application:
- General Volunteers: 15 years old and above
- EXCO / Volunteer Leaders: 17 years old and above
- Fully Vaccinated
- Able to commit for all the sessions stated in the application form
